Jeffrey Porter (b. 1985) became interested in photography in high school after looking through boxes of his fathers black and white darkroom prints. He later built a darkroom for himself and learned photography on his own.
After deciding that he wanted to pursue photography further, Porter attended college at the Rochester Institute of Technology where he learned more about photography, but also about the importance of craftsmanship in everything that is done with your hands. Porter is interested in storytelling photography that concerns family dynamics, craft, and our connection to land.
He has worked for the Valley News in White River Junction, Vt and The Dallas Morning News in Dallas, Tx. His favorite thing to do is drive and work on his Volkswagen bus in the company of his father.
